Hacker News | PG: Disconnecting Distraction
This essay is about time waste and the internet. The author suggests having a different computer for work and for internet surfing so that you are VERY aware of when you’re doing what activity. This is a great idea however, when your work is ON the internet, when it’s you job to be attentive to certain types of internet subjects, for example like music, you are constantly on pages that lead to other subjects. It just happens. Internet surfing is compulsive, a habit, and has become very natural for me. I’m not sure how to beat it or if I even should spend the time to try.
