SP00N's incredible website →
After getting sent this awesome band website for Spoon (by Matt), I realized that it makes little to no sense for bands to underdevelop the only part of their online presence they have any control over. Blog posts, pitchfork features? What’s the point when you point current and potential fans to an uninspiring experience? When they get a somewhat customized MySpace Page? Since reading...

VideoEgg is right down the street. Nice people. This lawsuit irritates me to no end.
“VideoEgg CEO Matt Sanchez says that they comply with all DMCA takedown demands, but never received one from EMI. VideoEgg also used AudibleMagic , he says, to identify and proactively removed copyrighted material.”

This post discusses the idea that by having an album in your shared folder, whether you’re violating copyright. One side says yes, the other says no because just making it available isn’t actually distribution until someone takes it, which you ca’nt generally prove.

Can I get a Liam Lynch expert please? Xiu Xiu and CASH Music put up an incomplete song titled “untitled: will you please sing on this” and asked people to finish it by adding the lyrics and additional stylings of their choice.
After you determine whether that’s an undercover Liam Lynch rapping, go check out the rest of the finished songs. Some great additions. I really liked...

Warner Brothers Records packages the new Mudcrutch* vinyl with CD. But the cd is different then most. It’s been mastered exactly like the vinyl which means that it’s quieter and there is more range in sounds. I, for one, would definitely be interested in giving it a listen. It’s for the audiohpile in each of us waiting to bust out.
I particularly dig packaging the cd with...

From the examples that the Topspin Media blog displays, one can assume that these technology product that they’re working on involves an artist-specific subscription model that includes both physical and digital product. Interesting.
While it’s yet to be seen what other products they are working on, I do like that so far, they’re taking each artist and making a specific package...

Wonderful, as always. Spacy, ambient, driving, and warm. I’ll be searching out this Supermayer mix of Hot Chip’s “One Pure Thought” now. The original of that tune is totally blinding too, and very much worth checking out.
Speaking of Greg Gillis, he’s featured in this documentary GOOD COPY BAD COPY that is about “a documentary about the current state of copyright and culture”
